Media Training Options

1-2-1 Training

For individual intense training we recommend a bespoke 1:1 media training session at either a state-of-the –art radio and TV studio or in a temporary studio in your office, where you can practice print, radio and TV interviews.

Our media trainer will prepare detailed and challenging questions relevant to you.  Following a theory session, you will have recorded press, radio and TV interviews.  You will receive detailed, constructive feedback after each interview.  A messaging session will help you focus on key messages with help to deliver these with impact.  The trainer will demonstrate good and bad practice from a library of broadcast interviews. As well as detailed personal feedback you will be given copies of all your interviews.

As a bespoke session, the level of difficulty and content will be adapted to suit you.

Each session lasts for 2-3 hours

Group Training

This is the most common format for media training. In many ways it is ideal.  Delegates have the opportunity to brain-storm ideas on messaging and examples and learn from each other.

In the background research, the trainer will ensure all question areas and scenarios are relevant to each and every delegate.

Everyone will receive individual feedback on their interviews and a memory stick or secure upload.

The sessions last a day and can be carried out at your offices or a bespoke radio and TV studio.

This session is especially useful for companies looking to find their stars – current and future.  We shall indicate who is ready for all interviews, who is ready for some specialised interviews and who requires further training.

Who will benefit?

Chairs, CEOs, senior executives, communications team, heads of department, operations directors, subject specialists as well as those briefing spokespeople.

If desired, we offer two levels of training, intensive practical training for spokespeople and a shorter, less intense session for support staff.

Refresher Training

The skills and performance level acquired during media training will fade unless practised regularly.

During a half-day refresher session you will sharpen and polish your skills. We start by looking at the media interviews you have faced since training and discuss any issues or possible improvements which could be made.  We’ll remind you of the theory and examine your current messages and possible predicaments. Thereafter the session is entirely practical with challenging recorded press, radio and TV interviews.

This is available either for groups or individuals

Who will benefit?

Anyone who has received media training more than 18 months previously

Where will it take place?

At your offices or in a bespoke TV and radio studio.

Drop-in Media Training

This is 121 media training in your offices for multiple staff attending in two-hour slots.  This is ideal where several staff need training but can’t spare a whole day to be trained together.

We set up a temporary radio and TV studio in your office and book staff in for individual sessions back-to-back.

All slots are bespoke with questions and scenarios devised for each delegate. We can generally accommodate 4 sessions per day.

As with other forms of media training, we start with theory followed by recorded press, radio and TV interviews.

Message Development Workshops

  • Will your messages resonate with the audience?
  • Are you focused on how the message will be heard?
  • Do you have the right examples to make your messages memorable?
  • Are you bombarding the audience with so many messages that they will remember nothing?
  • And finally, what will journalists make of these?

Before launching an important press release or campaign or breaking some bad news, it is advisable to have your messages strength-tested. This involves examining the messages through fresh eyes with the desired audience in mind. Once honed, we prepare you and the team for the breadth of challenging and unexpected questions that you may face.

As with other media training sessions, press, radio and TV interviews are all filmed.

Who will benefit?

Chairs, CEOs, senior executives, communications team, heads of department, operations directors, subject specialists as well as those briefing spokespeople.

Where will it take place?

At your offices or in a bespoke TV and radio studio.
